Howdy folks, it's that time of year again, linux.conf.au is just a couple
of weeks away, including the Linux Australia annual general meeting. Voting
for the Linux Australia executive is open, and this year we've got two
Humbug folks running. I should say that the following are just my opinions,
not official Humbug stances.

For President, we get a pick between Hugh Blemmings and Kathy Reid, either
of which would be very fine picks. Kathy has a very ambitious plan to make
LA bigger and better, while Hugh is more about keeping things ticking
along. I tend to slide towards getting the basics right, and delegating
ambitious stuff to subcommittees myself, but they are both highly
experienced for the role.

For Vice President, we have Hugh, Kathy and Cameron. I haven't worked
directly with Cameron, but I feel all three are qualified.

For Secretary there's only Sae Ra, which is fine, as she's experienced in
the role (just to be open, Sae Ra and I worked on an unsuccessful
linux.conf.au miniconf bid for this year).

For Treasurer, we have our own Russell and David Bell. I think David would
be fine, but Russell's skills would be best used in this role.

For ordinary council members, we have Michael Still, Hugh, myself, Josh
Stewart, Sae Ra, David, Kath, Katie McLaughlin and Cherie Ellis. I think I
would like to see Hugh, Kath and Sae Ra in named positions rather than OCM,
but I can see merit in having Hugh hanging around rather than taking a
named position. I would definitely like to see both Katie and Cherie
continue working in the OCM, they're both good value, and energetic. To
blow my own horn a bit, the large number of LA events I've helped organise
and run gives me a bit of a better oversight of all the different things LA
does, not just linux.conf.au.

So, get voting! https://www.linux.org.au/membership

cheers!
