[ Humbug *General* list - semi-serious discussions about Humbug and ]

Paul's last email covered a fair bit of ground about the fact that there are
some people who don't need to use MS products and still find their computers
easy to use. He also mentioned that this includes some people who are not
technical.

>From my experiences, I would be inclined to agree with the comments made by
Frank... That is, Linux is a great server OS, but not so good on the
desktop (due to the lack of applications). This is changing, and I am
eagerly awaiting my download of StarOffice Beta to finish. I tried it a
while back, with disastrous results. It absolutely crapped over some Word
documents I tested it on.... Anyway....

The problem many face is that we don't know of easy to use products that
will do what we require of our PCs... Could anyone shed a bit of light on
what Linux programs are available that will easily replace MS products on a
desktop machine?

An obvious one is that StarOffice can replace MS Office (though I don't know
how true that statement actually is)....

Cheers.
Anthony
