Hi,
Below is an advert for a CAD Linux program. I think they're right to say that it is one area in which Linux is lacking. There are some Linux based opensource programs but in my personal experience I found them to be hard to use. QCAD for example just gave me the sh*ts.
That said the price tag on this piece of kit is $330 AUD for the base system. Something that you may be willing to fork out if your desperate to have a decent CAD program under Linux. Not saying it is as I'm still yet to try it out.
There is a 30 day trial download if your interested. This is on their website https://www.bricsys.com/ .
Matt

Bricsys Bricscad™ V10 for Linux released
September 8, 2010
Bricscad V10 for Linux is now finally available . Bricscad V10 is the first and currently only .dwg CAD program available on the Linux platform. The .dwg format is the AutoCAD® file format. In a recent poll about the most needed “missing functionality on the Linux platform”, the Linux user population has selected the .dwg CAD functionality as their second most important priority (only preceded by the Adobe functionality).
We hope that you will spread this message in your Linux user group . Bricscad LinuxIn this version
The functionality of Bricscad for Linux is very similar to the functionality of Bricscad Classic for Windows. For a complete comparison between the different Bricscad versions, please refer to the comparison chart on our website.
Bricscad V10 for Linux contains the complete DCL and LISP APIs. Existing applications and customizations that use these APIs and have been written for Windows-based Bricscad and/or AutoCAD® can run on Bricscad V10 for Linux without modification. DOWNLOAD
