At this point I should chime and and point out that lately, at
meetings, minors *are* present, as we have members who bring their
children along. This has also happened in the past - In fact, I
believe we have had folks who were active members of the club while
still under the age of 18.

Absolutely, however I believe we need to address the legality first
and foremost, as it is where we have the most liability.
