Hi Rory,
Look I'm sorry that you felt that way about the meetings. I
guess that we do get defensive with people. I know
that I personally have troubles speaking to people who are a lot cooler
than me. It's a pavlovian reaction. The other
reason is that we are sometimes so into the current problems that we are
working on that we can seam aloof. Please
understand that this isn't arrogance it's simply that we love what we
do. I know that doesn't help bring people in. We
aren't the type of people that will seek to engage with conversations
with new people. I find that I have tried and the
I appear to be false. So how should you approach us.
Come to a meeting with a non MS problem. Butt into a conversation and
just ask for help. I know that is what I had to do
when I 1st came to a meeting. Stay. A lot of us have dinner about 7pm.
The best part of Humbug is often after 9pm
when the initial "I've been working on this " conversation has died
down. Appreciate that we don't want to deal with
problems relating to MS products. That's we do for a living. I hope you
do come back. Heck if I was you start off with
what you have just written. A least that will be a question that will
get answers.
Hope this finds You well Matt.
PS the next meet won't have many people attending due to Linux conf.
