The isse with the oz.org network is not one of a "large network" being
DDOSed. The oz.org network is small and suffers from personality based
issues around server provision, and some control freak administrators
that don't have the time/knowhow to respond to certain instances of
network trouble and don't want to hand over control to other people.
Infact oz.org is a few server remenants of what used to be a reasonable
sized networks (I believe it is now 3 public servers and 2 restrticed to
the .edu.au domain space).

Personlally I thing we should move to a more stable network (the oftc
network that the alternate channel is on is quite stable and has been
for some years now.). The problems with oz.org are not likely to be
fixed any time soon. I also maintain a presence on different networks to
communicte with different groups of people (as do most IRC geeks in my
experience) so it's not really and issue when one network goes to
splitsville. And if you are connecting to IRC to talk to one specific
group (i.e. the HHUMBUG crowd) then you are better off connecting to a
network where they have a presence - if you see and empty channel it
doesn't take much to type "/server irc.oftc.net" and move to a location
where the channel is more than likely not empty.
