Further re installing my website.
Hi All,
Thanks for all the advice. I have already found my /var/www/html/
directory and I found I do have apache installed. I am checking with
Aussie Hosts. I am still keen to install here as I think it may lead to
more aspects. It will be a learning exercise.
I hope I am not about to enter a forbidden topic, if I talk of a
“commercial aspect”. I think people will know the supplier [there seems
to be one major one] of selected ads to place on my site depending on
parameters in their “search engine”. I do not expect to make money.
[They will not pay until one is entitled to US$100 and then in Australia
it is only by cheque which may take two to three months to arrive by
slow mail, apparently.]
I would like to have a rough idea of just how successful that may be; to
compare revenue with the traffic to the site and the cost of traffic to
the site. [I have just had a response from Aussie hosts that I can run
that “Advertising” on their hosting and that it works “no problems”.]
If anyone has any experience of how successful running those ads that
are “sensed” from the parameters that the browser user has input, I
would really appreciate that information.
NAT (Network Address Translation) is Enabled and I can access “port
forwarding”. [I will have to work that one out. Eg Virtual Server is
used to allow Internet users access to LAN services. ; Rule Name;
Private IP; Port Start; Port End; Port Map. I may ask this list
community about that later, so do not bother about it now. I will think
about it. For now, any info re experience of that “cost per click”
advertising would be greatly appreciated.
