Thanks, that's the nudge I wanted.  I will be using qmail.  You have
confirmed I will have to use an @ something - I was hoping to avoid this
for simplicity's sake (for the user) - and the only part I will have to
bone up on is DNS.  I seem to recall in some reading that DNS can be set
up to be both "external" and "internal" and this will have to be the
latter.  I have set up MTA's, web and DNS servers with Linux before but
always externally on the web, never internally with Linux.
