Ctrl+C when it hangs just after "Finding module dependencies [OK]" gets
things moving again. Booting continues ok up to login prompt & I'm able
to login successfully as first user created during install.

I added to desktop install by selecting MySQL support & web server &
maybe one other (I want to learn PHP & MySQL). And I selected Gnome but
not KDE. During install it successfully booted into XWindows where I
poked around a bit & added a 2nd user. My problems appeared when
rebooting the next day.

No. I was going to until I found the Ctrl+C trick on the net. If I had
reinstalled I would've deleted existing Linux partitions before
re-partitioning, which should get around the multiple installs makes a
mess mistake, right?
