AFAIK it has a standard bt878 chipset so it _should_ work.

(BTW, you shouldn't _need_ to be root to use v4l applications).

You might need to load these modules along with bttv:
tuner msp3400 btaudio.

And are you specifying the "tuner=X" option along with the
insmod/modprobe parameters when loading the bttv module? It seems
to be needed. If it has a radio, then make sure that you also use
"radio=1", and you may need to use "simple=1" with the msp3400
driver (if it is needed) to get proper stereo. You'll need to
experiment.

Check the files in /usr/src/linux/Documentation/video4linux/bttv/
for some _very_ useful (and essential) information.

(The output of "modinfo bttv" is also very useful).

By what I have gleemed in a recent threads in the v4l mailing list,
it looks like their might have been some problems with older
incantations of the bttv driver (and associated "helper" modules).
However it could have been the Pro card they were talking about.

The mailing list itself is video4linux-list at redhat.com (you'll need
to subscribe to post to it), try the archives at
https://listman.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/video4linux-list and the
v4l|v4l2|bttv|xawtv site at http://www.bytesex.org/

BTW, you might want to check out the ALSA (advanced linux sound
architecture) audio drivers for redhat 7.3 at
http://www.freshrpms.net/ (where you'll also find lots of other way
cool stuff for redhat-based boxes, especially multimedia
applications like xine, mplayer, xmms and so on).

Good luck!

On a related note:

I have a winfast tv2000 capture card that was working ok until I
recently replaced my TNT video card with a GeForce4, after which
it now fails with "cannot allocate memory" problems. If I use
fbtv on a text console (without X running), it works... go
  figure:)

Has anyone here got this video/capture card combination working?
(Also redhat 7.3) I'm at my wits end trying to nail down this
particular problem... it should work, it doesn't make any sense :)

Cheers
Tony
