Actually, if I remember correctly, I was off chatting with somebody and
then I got a reminder from Ray to start getting underway with the talk.
This was at about 5 minutes to the hour, IIRC.

Right, normally, we have a fair amount of notice for talks, normally at
least 5-7 days, preferably longer. There, however, have been a couple
of occasions where talks were only confirmed very, very close to when
they were due to be presented, so the late notice cannot be helped.
This was such a case.
(This time, I had been so preoccupied with work and other (personal)
issues, that I completely forgot to make the announcement, and Ray
stepped in and made the announcement before it was too late. Sorry if I
put anybody out by this.)

Yes, I thought the talk was great. I think, though, that next time, we
might try and defer questions until the end of the talk -- a bunch of
people including myself ended up grilling the guy and the talk went from
being a talk to being a talk show :-)
Anyway, apologies if the way I organised the talk put anybody else out
-- I'll try to be a little more careful.
Have fun people.
-regards,
Ben.
