Ok, I found out my problem was because Apache didn't have PHP enabled.

It didn't have the following line ->
AddType application/x-httpd-php .php


But in my defence it did have ->
Include  conf/addon-modules/php.conf

and that file had the first line in it, so why php didn't work, I don't know.
