The fact still remains that without a comprehensive, up to date package
listing apt is just a pretty front-end to rpm or dpkg or whatever
package manager. Out side of debian apt is just a shadow of itself as
most "vendors" don't make uptodate package listings available. I have
found the debian package management system - as a whole, not just apt -
to be better than rpm.
