I have two ADSL connections now, both with Internode. They certainly don't
mind if you want to use Linux. IIRC, their web site even lists it in the FAQ!

I have a friend with a Telstra ADSL connection and his has always had
outages & problems while my Internode ones just keep running fine.
The funny thing is that the Internode service uses Telstra wholesale.

Both of mine are of the D-Link DSL-300 external Ethernet type and are
about $275 + GST wholesale. With Internode you have to buy your own
modem and they recommend the D-Link ones. The internal PCI card
version is a lot cheaper but I like the external one so I can monitor the
activity via the front panel LED's and it's easier for the static IP that we
got for the business connection. (No PPPoE software required)
