Yo. I want to be able to read a file from a (corrupted?) hard drive.

The file was in win xp format, but I stuffed up the disk when I had it
connected to a Linux machine.
Now Windows says that drive need a formatting, and I'd like to ask Linux
what it can see on that drive.
If and then, maybe copy the critical file somehow onto a windows partition
or even a floppy.

As a newbie, I can barely complete the exercise of mounting a floppy, by
typing in the following..
    mount -t vfat /dev/fd0 /mnt/floppy

So can some kind soul please tell me the corresponding mantra for mounting
a second hard drive?
I have tried variations like /mnt/hda1 and /dev/hda without any
success, or much in the way of comprehension either.

Yassou!
