Just thinking about this...is it the double cut mechanism on the crimper?
Some crimpers have two blades...one with no clearance and a second one with
clearance about half inch (12 mm) from the end cut. This second cut is
supposed to clear the outer casing and leave thetwisted pairs intact.
I never use this arrangement but make a fresh single cut. On multi-strand
cable, the cable is more flexible so that the second cut rarely touches the
inner wires but on solid core the wire does not pack down and often the 8
inner core wires are "nicked" significantly enuff to break off when the
wire is bent.
If you are using a twin blade crimper maybe you could cut your cable to
length but clean up the ends and remove the outer casing manually rather
than use the stripper arrangement.
Just a thought.
