[ Humbug *General* list - semi-serious discussions about Humbug and ]
[ Unix-related topics. Please observe the list's charter. ]
[ Worthwhile understanding: http://www.humbug.org.au/netiquette.html ]

Please bear with me as my Linux skills though not poor, are at best little
more than those of a novice.

I am indeed using Redhat gui tools as I did previously under 6.2, and
without any complications.

I have checked all relevant settings, DNS addresses and the like, having
written these down from my 'other OS' installation and double checked in
case I missed anything.

I have checked the symbolic link and /dev/modem does indeed point to
/dev/ttyS2 aka com3 in dos. In short non of these appear to have altered
at all as a result of the upgrade from 6.2 to 7.0.

I have run a debug using the RHppp configuration tool and have included the
contents of the resulting ppp.log.

ATQ0 S0=0 &C1 D2 S11=55 +FCLASS=0

Looks like a welcome message.
Starting pppd at Wed Jul 11 18:04:23 2001

To me everything seems ok here, however it is at this point when all
activity appears to cease.

My /etc/ppp/config file contains only one line

lock

My apologies if this isn't helpful enough.

If there are other means of trouble shooting or other file contents that
would shed a bit more light on the subject, please let me know.

Regards

David Underwood
