Hello, I was wondering if anyone can guide me with this problem.
I have sendmail running on Debian the mail server being securemail.2y.net or
mx.securemail.2y.net , it all seems to be working very nicely receiving and
sending e-mails. I get a small error in the logs 'unable to qualify my own
domain name --using short name' - this however, to my knowledge does not
effect its functionality as the domain is set up correctly. My problem is
with clients picking up emails. Say from Outlook when trying to poll for
mail, it refuses connection, no validation, nothing, just straight failure
to connect.
ps -ax |grep sendmail shows:
2452 ? S 0:03 sendmail: accepting connections on port 25
this is my first email server, therefore im not really sure if sendmail is
the complete package for sending receiving emails for remote clients,???? I
have tested my firewall, with same results having flushed completetely
ipchains rules.
Do I need to install any additional software?
Or is it just a sendmail config problem? (not being a guru, i mainly use
Webmin to configure sendmail).
any help would be appreciated.
regards,
Martin.
