Depending on the size,avialable free space, and so on
consider,
0) you can "chkdsk" ithe drive with the dosfsck command
1) copy to another partition , or backup, ALL the files and directorys
on the dos drive. {cp -a check man page}
2) delete all the files on the dos drive problem solved :)
3) restore all the files.
sounds too simple a time consuming, and dangerous.
but It works and with fast drives it can be quicker than the
dos/win defrag utillity.
