While we're on the subject of NIS

has anyone playd with the  linux glibc implimentation of NIS??.  

well.. I can't seem to get the user include/exclude bit working.

In the nsswitch file I set passwd etc... = compat and passwd_compat
etc... = nis however, when I add a line like,

+fred::::::/bin/tcsh or -blogs:::::: to the /etc/passwd file... it
doesn't seem to make any difference.  I really can't figure this one out
and may end up looking at other solutions ;?
