On the Windows boxen, go to Network Neighborhood/Properties
and make the following modifications:
* Select the "TCP/IP -> Relevant Network Adapter" item, and
  choose "Properties"
* Go to the "Gateway" tab and enter IP.AD.RE.SS of the Linux
  gateway, then click "Add"
* Click "OK" and go to the "DNS Configuration" tab
* If a DNS Server is running on the Linux gateway, then
  * set the DNS Server Search Order to point to the
    Linux gateway
  Else
  * Set the DNS Server Search Order to point to the
primary and secondary DNS Serversa t your ISP
  EndIf
* Make sure the "Host" and "Domain" settings are correct
for your network configuration ("Host" is the local
machine's name, "Domain" must be set to the domain of
  the Linux gateway
* Click "OK" and "OK" again. The system will need to be
rebooted for these changes to be implemented

I agree - I'm interested in playing with one too (in my spare time - HAH).
