I'm not sure about "random", but I can't identify the pattern.  Yesterday,
anything sent to the lists.humbg.org.au server had the problem.  This
morning, it was a message to antoher server (boral.com.au) that was causing
the problem.  I am at a loss.

Just found this in the NT event log, which kinda just confirms everything
else I have found anyway....

"A timeout occurred while trying to deliver mail to 10.10.10.2 (for
boral.com.au). Undelivered mail will be retried  later. The timeout occurred
while waiting for a response to the transmission of the  message body. "
