Its a little chip which holds the config details which does the dying.
You can contact Sun Ripened Kernels to get a new chip, or punch in the
details each time the dead(?) machine is powered on.

If you have a Sun machine, and haven't retrieved these details, its a
really, really good idea. Stop+A and then 'n'ew command mode will put you
in a place where you can 'printenv' (that works on the ELCs)

Not sure about the specifics on the IPCs, but reading through
aus.computers.sun would be a good bet. It has come up on Humbug before
though.
