Just further to the discussion. i had a feller wanting to buy a webexcel
internal for his linux box now he reckons he read on a site somewhere that
the only 56k PCI internals that seem to work are the Lucent Tech chipset
ones and not the other chipset (sorry the name where ther 10 seconds ago
when i started this post) now i haven't tried either of these in my box (I
am prefer the externals myself but plz don't argue that point i don't care
what others think)

So it may be useful knowledge or not
Give the Lucent chipset a shot (in the webexcel modems)
