I ran right through the 1.1 series and 1.3 series but didn't worry about
2.1.

Generally speaking most devel kernels (possibly with the exception of very
early ones) are fine and run quite well - but you'll often find a few
rough edges and broken stuff.  This is ok if you don't need these features
or are in a mood to play.  However, occassionally a devel kernel comes out
that has a serious flaw.  I can recall 2 kernels which caused serious data
corruption and have warnings in the kernel directories.  I had a
devel kernel once which segfaulted most commands on a somewhat random
basis and had to crash the box to reboot to the old kernel :)  A patch
wasout a few hours later :)

So go for it if you want to play or need some unusual feature.  Keep data
you really care about backed up (as everyone always does ;).
