Ok, well in that case if proxying doens't make it into the new
Constitution (still under debate imho :) then quorum would need to be
adjusted appropriately.
I have an idea. How about absentee voting to replace the current
proxying.
My main problem with the current proxy system is it 'transfers' voting
rights. This is a bad idea imho. If we go ahead with the planned
tightening up of when and how nominations for exec positions, etc are done
then why can't we allow 'absentee voting'. It works for state and federal
elections. The absentee voter would send a pgp/rsa/whatever is
allowed signed email to the person presiding over the election. This
would be kept secret and counted only when the election was on. Paper
absentee votes could also be allowed.
I also suggest we create an electoral officer position to oversee the
election, especially if my suggestion above is implemented. This person
could be appointed by the president perhaps.
Wow, this email is longer than I expected ;)
Cheers,
