Hi All,

I've been having some problems accessing various web sites and I wondered if
anyone else could duplicate the problem. I am inclined to blame my IP
Masquerading setup.

I can't access sites like www.suncorp.com.au or www.mainroads.qld.gov.au
from my Windows machine that's connected to the net via Linux and ip-masq.
Yet both Lynx and Netscape on Linux can get to these sites with no problems.
Other sites like www.humbug.org.au etc can be reached by either machine.

Trying to traceroute suncorp from Linux results in a loop at
metba.lnk.telstra.net

centaur:/root# traceroute www.suncorp.com.au
traceroute to www.suncorp.com.au (203.25.47.4), 30 hops max, 40 byte packets
 1 annex17.cc.uq.edu.au (130.102.2.83) 135.587 ms 127.317 ms 129.784 ms
 2 gateway2.cc.uq.edu.au (130.102.2.30) 119.791 ms 127.772 ms 119.83 ms
 3 croc.cc.uq.edu.au (130.102.2.90) 144.559 ms 152.68 ms 149.795 ms
 4 Serial4-3.cha1.Brisbane.telstra.net (139.130.64.17) 299.833 ms 577.598
ms 279.782 ms
 5 metba.lnk.telstra.net (139.130.65.35) 349.798 ms * 350.089 ms
6 * ( will not get past this site )

And a ping will result in 100% packet loss. A tracert from windows says
C:\WINDOWS>tracert www.suncorp.com.au

Tracing route to www.suncorp.com.au [203.25.47.4]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

  1 <10 ms 1 ms 1 ms centaur.ml.org [192.168.75.150]
  2 234 ms 139 ms 139 ms annex17.cc.uq.edu.au [130.102.2.83]
  3 140 ms 139 ms 140 ms gateway2.cc.uq.edu.au [130.102.2.30]
  4 150 ms 139 ms 139 ms croc.cc.uq.edu.au [130.102.2.90]
  5 300 ms 209 ms 309 ms Serial4-3.cha1.Brisbane.telstra.net
[139.130.64.17]
  6 metba.lnk.telstra.net [139.130.65.35] reports: Destination net
unreachable

Trace complete.

Yet Lynx and Netscape on Linux can reach it. I do not have a proxy set up.

Help !.

John.
