I have a couple of TR-1 floppy tape units running under 2.0.x kernels.
They work nicely, store ~800MB of data, but are s..l..o..w..  It takes
about an hour to fill or replay a tape.  However, they do have the
advantage of being a well-known and reliable technology, and the tapes
look like you could drive a small car over them.  Drives were a couple
of hundred (Aus) dollars, tapes about ten dollars.

If I was buying a new system now, I think I'd go for a SCSI-attached
DAT, assuming I had a lot of money.
