Hi Josh,

That is excellent news that Council would like to move forward to the next stage of the bid process! We look forward to running a site inspection so you can see all that the Gold Coast has to offer as a conference destination.

Thanks for creating the doodle poll to coordinate selecting a date. One thing that will play heavily into the timing is the 2018 Commonwealth Games, which are held from 4 to 15 April 2018. It will be not be possible to do it during this time, and I imagine it may be harder to arrange access to some venues either side of the event. I will get in touch with some venues to see if they have any restrictions around that period, and let everyone know.

Thanks,
Joel

As you'd be aware from your involvement in LCA2018, the site tour is an important part of the bid process, allowing council to not only get an idea of the physical locations for the conference, but also as a small scale 'practice' run for the team to coordinate with the various site managers, transportation providers etc. We encourage teams to work with relevant supporting organisations (Eg the below mentioned Gold Coast Business events, tourism boards etc) if possible to see in what ways they can potentially assist with this type of visit.

Typically we run these site tours over a Saturday and Sunday as we've found that getting through everything in a single day is usually not possible. I've setup a Doodle poll for this, aiming for one of the weekends in March or April: https://doodle.com/poll/53a5rmdzid4w4nrx <https://doodle.com/poll/53a5rmdzid4w4nrx>
