What also might be useful is feedback on user groups and related 
conferences that might be willing to offer "support" in a sense.  For 
example (coincidently) both SAGE-AU and OSDC have picked Queensland this 
year, so you can be pretty sure that neither will be in Brisbane late 
2010 or early 2011.  Thus it should do no harm at all for the organisers 
(both exec and city-based committees to say that they support and 
encourage your bid.

I'm sure HUMBUG would also suggest support, but so might the GCLUG, 
GCOSDC, and others local to your area.  Having community support is 
valuable.  Please make sure when requesting a letter of support, that 
financial or even time support is not a requirement.
