Ahh the late comers 😉

The wine project has been around for a long time They maintain a list of
programs that have been confirmed to work and not work.

However it is not the only way to run Windows under Linux. Other
emulation options are KVM/QEMU, and Virtualbox - these run actual MS
Windows instances.

I would argue that using Wine is a last resort, definitely not "the best
of both worlds", and you would get better experience with Virtualbox
than Wine - KVM/QEMU I use for other purposes.

Again there are already KVM solutions to this, including a script that
allows you to easily install a number of pre-configured virtual
environments (including MacOS). There are other options that allow you
to run a MacOS environment in a VirtualBox VM too. With the tools to
access virtual environments allowing to share files and the clipboard
it's the best way to stably run applications. If you can't find these
things with a web search try harder 😛

Running things in a virtual machine is a safer way the Wine, because I
have never known a VM to kill a running Linux instance.
