Be that as it may, some userland stuff is derived from NetBSD:

jdev at Snefru$ ident /usr/bin/m4
     $NetBSD: eval.c,v 1.10 1997/10/19 04:39:51 lukem Exp $
     $NetBSD: expr.c,v 1.8 1997/10/19 04:39:53 lukem Exp $
     $NetBSD: look.c,v 1.6 1997/10/19 04:39:57 lukem Exp $
     $NetBSD: main.c,v 1.19 1998/09/01 03:16:49 enami Exp $
     $NetBSD: misc.c,v 1.9 1997/12/29 19:52:57 cgd Exp $

Of course, Apple claims something different[1] altogether, but the
ident output is fairly conclusive. Most of the free Unix projects
share code.
