I have a friend who used to work for Lucent.
They were always ditching some older SPARCs that had been used in the offices.
(Some are kept in storage as spare parts because AT&T 5-ESS telephone
exchanges actually run on them ;-)
Anyway, they were sometimes selling them off for very little.
Stuff like that will be slightly older, slower, but it's a real SPARC! So it
might be something to look at.

Here there's companies like Better Buy IT (www.trmsolutions.com.au) that sell
off ex-lease hardware for very interesting prices.
I have no idea whether they ever see any Sun hardware float by, but I'd
actually be surprised if they didn't. They're big and they move around a lot
of hardware.
