Philosophy aside, Peter's comments on hardware compatibility are probably
the most pragmatic issue. If Sun's website is to be believed, software
availablility should be less of an issue given Solaris's 'Linux
compatibility layer'.
There is a lot to be said for using the same system at home as at work. It
avoids having to switch contexts between home and work. I guess the
downside is that you don't get to 'just have a play with something
different'.
I think you should do it, then give a talk about wether it rocks or sucks.
