dont know about driving directions, 
www.whereis.com.au has reasonable maps.

wrt directions,

gold-coast to Brisbane via South East Freeway, that will bring you into 
Brisbane.

Stay on the freeway, do not exit into city, the road 'becomes' coronation 
drive. Follow Coronation drive (Brisbane River on left), you will pass a 
local student landmark "Regatta Hotel" (will be on your right), keep going 
and follow flow of traffic straight ahead. do not turn right with traffic on 
Moggill Rd at Toowong. (stay in left lane) another 1/2(?)km then left into 
Sir Fred Schonell Drive at the petrol station.

at Uni: best to stop and look at the map on the rhs of the roundabout just 
before u get on campus, also most street directories have a full page map of 
UQ campus.
