Nice thought but it does not overcome the dependence on having Windows. Most
of us here would like to avoid contributing to Bill Gates retirement fund.
Also, a lot of the advanced programmes will not run that well under WINE...I
have not tried IE but I think it would not run under WINE

There is a major problem coming for big companies that have received
favorable treatment in the past from MS. MS is now flexing its muscles and
increasing the cost of the upgrade programme and imposing significantly
tougher licencing conditions.

The ultimate desire is to have strong systems, tools and applications that
will negate the need to have Windows installed on the system at all. Some of
the things that MS has planned are quite draconian.
