[ Humbug *General* list - semi-serious discussions about Humbug and ]
[ Unix-related topics. Please observe the list's charter. ]
[ Worthwhile understanding: http://www.humbug.org.au/netiquette.html ]

Sandra Milne <silne at optushome.com.au> moved upon the face of the 'Net and spake thusly:

Whichever one whose kernel module got loaded first.

"/sbin/ifconfig" should tell you the ethernet MAC address of the card
(6 pairs of hex digits), and also the IRQ and IO address used by that
card.

If you then do "cat /proc/interrupts" and "cat /proc/ioports" you
should be able to work out which card is which. Typically the PCI
card will have a 4 digit IO address, while the ISA card will have a 3
digit address. As a last resort, the MAC address is usually on a
sticker on the ethernet adapter itself.

Which DHCP client are you using? I have successfully used "dhclient"
with Linux and O at H in the past.

(Double check for letter-oh-for-oscar versus numeral-zero in the
user-ID you enetered, my O at H user-id has a letter O in the middle of a
string of numerals, which is really dumb, IMAO.)
