FWIW, I plugged my iPod Touch running iOS 5.1.1 into my laptop running
Quantal Quetzal 12.10 beta, and it showed up fine, and I can see all
the songs etc.  Release day is within a month, so if you don't want to
run a beta OS (and I've been running pretty much every betas since
10.04 without any major issues), it won't be long until you can
install it.
