I'd be guessing it's dirty connectors myself. Either that or the wires
in the hinge are broken. Things that move always break first. So my
first step would be to look at all the connectors and clean then.
Giving them a scrub with a normal pencil rubber often does the trick.

Weird. I'll have to give a iPad's keyboard a test now at Humbug.
Did Asus replace the standard ICS keyboard with an "improved" one? On
phones I've used both, and the ICS keyboard and the iOS keyboard seemed
very similar performance wise. Sadly Android manufacturers seem very
keen on replacing bits of Android with their own versions which are
invariably not as polished. My most recent battle was with Samsung's
Email application on a Galaxy S III. It pissed me off so much I posted
a whinge about it here:

Samsung also replaced the onscreen keyboard of course. Same deal. It's
not as good as the standard one. But unlike their email client it is
tolerable. What I don't understand is why they remove the standard
Google applications. They could leave them there and just make theirs
the default.
