I guess I should not be surprised as I stopped using the ISO's a while
ago.  I now use "Network Boot" installer, as described here:

You need a working machine to run the server on, and there is a bit of
stuffing around once you set it up as described in the instructions
linked to on that page.

Boot image, netboot.tar.gz is only 9M, and it is available on arrnet at
a URL like:

http://mirror.aarnet.edu.au/pub/debian/dists/squeeze/main/installer-amd64/current/images/netboot/
