[H-GEN] synaptics pinching?

Hi,
  I recently got a Samsung P580 which includes support for multiple
finger detection on its trackpad. I have performed the unfortunately
needed rudimentary configuration changes to get two fingers to scroll
vertically.

  It seems things get much harder if you want to have two finger pinch
equate to "zoom" in firefox, konsole, emacs et al. I thought I'd ping
the list in case somebody else has wandered down this path recently and
had tips on how/if it can be made to work or just a "you'll need to hack
code" which I suspect might be the current state of affairs :/
