Stephen,
If your looking at promotional items I can so far recommend Star Promotions and QLD T-Shirt company. They have given me excellent quotes for LCA as well being fast to do so.
Also if your paying for small booklets and printing for the event it's best to keep the range of colours to a minim if your doing large runs, which I would say for booklets of any real size be around to 250 to 1000 mark. This is because rather than use a laser printing service your better off going to a larger printing firm.
Places like Screen Offset, Print Works and Geo Scanlon would best handle these. Note that I am talking about booklets that have greater than 25 pages. Otherwise best bet is a large laser printer like Kwik Kopy. At that point it's either black or colour printing when it comes to laser printing.
Cardboard and paper cost far less than plastic and it can be celloglased to make them more durable. I should know this I recently destroyed $800 worth of plastic stock in 5 min. If it had been cardboard then the cost would have been $100.
As seen in past events also make sure the network is ready well before hand. James, I know, setup the networking for the last OSDC. He would be the best person to start with asking.
Matt
