I was hoping you would reply.  Awesome answer.  You had a blog entry
describing how to use equivs to manage the packages on a machine, didn't

The real problem here is apt_preferences man page.  There are 2000
words, none of which manage to say what syntax Pin: accepts.  How hard
is it to write:

  "Pin: package ...", matches the packages listed.  Wildcards are not
   supported in the package names.  Alternatively "Pin: *" matches 
   all packages.

Its the same for the rest of the keywords.  Pages and pages of waffle
using examples is not a substitute a concise description of what it
actually does.  It's not all bad though.  He style would fit right in
with the GNU Info team.
