Just burn theOpenCD, it's sane these days. and has a good menu and  
such. Don't reinvent.
Or use the Ubuntu live stuff, just check which tools it has on there -  
not sure it has OpenOffice.org.

Limit the scope way beyond what you would think, even if it would just  
have OOo that would be great.
The more is on there, the greater the change the whole will not get  
used.
(I say this because you mention Wesnoth)

That's good, you can just print that on the CDs using a capable inky.
This can be highly effective.
