This was due purely to operator error.

I use Horde much of the time (yes I know, rubbish PHP teenage-ware),  
however, it does give users options to 'reply', 'reply to all', and  
'reply to list'.  I was careless and hit 'reply to all' instead of  
'reply to list' (which uses the list reply-to only), and didn't  
realize my mistake until after I hit Send.  I decided at the time not  
to compound the error by advertising my mistake by posting a  
preemptive mea culpa to the mailing list.
