[H-GEN] Which type of wireless device?

I have a laptop that doesn't have a built-in wireless network device,
and am looking to buy a wireless device to plug in.  So far I've found
PCMCIA and USB types available and don't know which would be most
suitable.  Nor do I know which chipset/brand would be compatible with
the OS.

Not being any kind of expert regarding wireless networking, I'm
looking for some information about the pro's and con's of PCMCIA vs
USB wireless devices.  The only pro I've thought of so far is that a
USB type would be more portable (ie: usable in desktops as well as
laptops).

The OS on the laptop is, and will likely always be, Linux.  The
flavour of Linux may change from time to time, but is currently SuSE
10.2.

Any advice that the good people of Humbug could provide will be
greatly appreciated.
