I didn' have a tv for almost 2 years until we go somebody new into the 
house who wanted a tv. you really don't miss the tv after a month or 2 
and as a result you tend to get a lot more done in other areas.

I would highly recommend ditching your tv and of cause ditching 
windows is a good idea also but lets not start a flame war about it.
