I attended a Linux conference at UQ some years ago (was it 2001?).
The dinner then was held at the Convention Centre. They seemed to do
a decent job of it, and should easily manage that number. You may
want to ask them again?
I can't recall who was involved in organizing the conference, though
I know it included several HUMBUG members. The MC at the dinner was
Jason Parker (who did a great job, as I recall).
