Hi Opec.  Thanks for the link.  The thing is, it doesn't actually mean 
that the GUI is not present.  They may well have just seemlessly 
integrated the remote access but left the GUI in place (and hence still in 
ring 0 and a potential problem).  Given what I know about the design of 
MS-Windows I don't think it is possible to remove the entire GUI (or maybe 
even any of it) and still be able to call it MS-Windows - such is the 
level of integration of the GUI (and even some apps).
