Have you thought about a duet number? You have the normal "ring ring"
and when someone dials the duet number it goes "ring ring ring",
configure your modem or script to recognise the distinctive ring and you
are set.

A duet number only costs approx $6/month extra, I used to have one at
home as a business number, when we heard the ring ring ring it was like
"Shut up you kids this is a business call".
